Sell Your Physical Albums Directly on Spotify

From Streams to Sales: Spinney’s New Spotify Merch Program

Stream for exposure; sell for actual money. Right there on Spotify

If you’re an indie musician or label, you know the frustration: Spotify streams might boost your credibility, help you find new fans, and get your music out there, but they won’t pay your rent. What if those same fans discovering your music could buy your physical albums without ever leaving Spotify?

Now they can.

Introducing: Direct Physical Sales Through Spotify

Spinney Media is excited to announce that paid Spinney subscribers can now sell their CDs, vinyl, and cassettes directly through their Spotify for Artists profile. When fans stream your music, they’ll see a merch link that takes them straight to your physical products—all while staying on Spotify.

Who Can Do This?

The requirements are simple:

  • Active paid Spinney subscription (sign up here if you need one)
  • Spotify for Artists account (grab one here if you don’t have it)
  • Albums in stock at our warehouse

How to Get Started (4 Easy Steps)

Once you’ve claimed your Spotify for Artists account and met the requirements above, follow these steps:

  1. Invite us to your Spotify for Artists account
    • Add info@spinneymedia.com as Admin to your artist team (here’s how)
  2. We’ll connect your accounts
    • We’ll link your Spinney store to your Spotify profile (don’t worry—we won’t touch anything else in your Spotify account)
  3. We’ll confirm the connection
    • You’ll get an email from us once your Spinney account is successfully connected
  4. Link and pin your merch

Within 48-72 hours, your albums will appear on your Spotify profile, and streamers will be able to purchase your physical albums from Spinney right there on Spotify.

Why This Matters

Independent musicians have been at the mercy of streaming economics for too long. You create the music. You build the fanbase. You deserve to actually make meaningful money from your music.

Physical sales still matter—especially to your most dedicated fans. Vinyl sales hit record highs in recent years. Collectors want CDs. Cassettes are having a moment. But until now, there’s been a disconnect between where fans discover music (streaming platforms) and where they can buy it (everywhere else on the internet).

Now we’re closing that gap!

Ready to Turn Your Spotify Profile Into a Sales Channel?

This is a game changer for converting passive listeners into active buyers. If you’re a paid Spinney subscriber, start by inviting us to your Spotify for Artists account today.

Are there any plans to set up a link capability between Spinney & TIDAL (supposedly a more artist-friendly streaming platform than Spotify and others; Tidal is better regarding payouts of royalties apparently).

Hi Greg – we’d love to. Spotify had a ready-to-use merch program, and we’re happy to see if Tidal has something we can tap into, too.
